Flyfishing with professionals in Slovenia
My fly fishing journey began at the age of five, inspired by my father. What started as carp and pike fishing on lakes soon evolved into a deep love for fly fishing, which he taught me at eight years old. Since then, fly fishing has been a constant in my life. I am also a national champion in fly tying—an art form that I continue to develop and share through my guiding work. Some of my handmade flies are available in the trout menu section.
When you join one of my organized fly fishing trips in Slovenia, you can expect to fish waters that I know intimately, including:
- Vipava
- Soča
- Kamniška Bistrica
- Tržiška Bistrica
- Sora
- Rižana
- Sava Dolinka
- Bohinjka
I also guide on selected rivers in Trentino (Italy) and the Gacka River in Croatia. My goal is always the same—to give you the best possible chance to catch trout, grayling, marble trout or even hucho, depending on the season.
To make your experience truly enjoyable, I offer several flexible packages, so you can choose what suits you best:
- Half-Day Package
- 6 hours of guided fishing - Full-Day Package
- 10 hours of fishing and instruction - Multi-Day Package
- 2 or more days, each with 10 hours of guided fishing

Guided flyfishing trips
All packages include:
- snacks,
- fruit,
- beverages and
- if needed—complete fishing gear.
For guests flying into Slovenia, I can also arrange transport from the Ljubljana (Brnik) airport to the fishing location on the day of the trip.
Fishing permits are not included, but I help you obtain them. Some can be purchased online, while others need to be acquired in person—I will arrange everything for you.
In addition to organized fly fishing trips in Slovenia, I offer fly tying workshops for individuals and groups. Courses can be part of your guided trip or arranged separately.
For anglers seeking excitement, winter brings the prime season for hucho, the legendary “Danube salmon.” During the cold months, I guide on:
- Gradaščica
- Sava Bohinjka
- Sava River (upper and lower sections)
- Kolpa
- Ljubljanica (city center or upstream in nature)
These rivers offer thrilling opportunities to catch hucho over one meter in length—sometimes even up to 140 cm.
If you want a fishing experience shaped by knowledge, passion and personal attention, my organized fly fishing trips in Slovenia are the perfect choice. Contact me today and book your next fishing adventure in one of Europe’s most beautiful fly fishing destinations.

How is fly fishing different from regular fishing?
Fly fishing is different from regular fishing mainly in the way the lure is cast and what it’s meant to imitate. Instead of using the weight of a sinker or bait to throw the line, fly fishing relies on a specially weighted line and a very light artificial “fly” that mimics insects landing on the water. Because of that, the casting technique is more fluid and rhythmic, with the angler repeatedly moving the line through the air to place the fly gently on the surface. It’s generally more active and precise, often done in moving water like rivers, where the goal is to imitate natural insect behavior and entice fish in a more subtle, lifelike way than with traditional bait or lures.
