Tour of the Planina Cave by Boat, Jamarsko društvo Planina

Come and see the largest water cave in Slovenia! The Planina Cave is located near the city of Postojna in Slovenia, next to the Planina plain. Inside the cave itself, there are many underground halls, in which stalactites gradually began to grow. The beauty and speciality of our cave is that you can not only see the dry tunnel of our cave system, but also see many lakes and the underground confluence of two rivers.

Take a boat tour of Planina Cave

Embark on a unique adventure and go through underground tunnels along the Pivka River. Along the way, you will see many underground halls decorated with stalactites and stalagmites.

The journey through the underground by boat also involves walking on uneven surfaces and climbing.

For your journey through the underground world, you will get your:

• own guide,

• helmet with light,

• protective gear and

• boots.

You can visit the Planina cave at a low water level and together with a cave guide.

You can also go on a special hike through the Planina plain and Planina cave

Within the Planina caving association, we organize hikes that take you through the Planina plain and into the Planina cave. The route itself is not hard and suitable for families and the elderly.

Inside the cave you walk along a protected path, where you can see the confluence of the underground rivers Rak and Pivka. To visit the cave, it is necessary to wear suitable footwear and use a lamp, which the guide can lend you.

Between October 1 and April 1, the cave can only be visited by prior arrangement.

In the months of JULY and AUGUST, you can visit Planinska jama every day at 5:00 p.m.
